Finally the matters of law disputes have been admitted by the Labour party – Mr Balls confirmed in an interview that the labour party has made several wrongful decisions in treating people under the priority of national security and thus infringing the civil liberties of people protected by law. This comes after the government of day is forced to pay millions of compensations to victims of terrorism investigations conducted under the previous power holders – the Labours.
Truly, the approach that Blair’s and Brown’s offices took in dealing with the terrorism threats was in some sense efficient – the UK was protected by several threats and quickly responded to a threat that materialised. However, thousands of suspects that had nothing to do with terrorism were investigated and their treatment involved inhuman approaches – torture, violence, deportation and false imprisonment.
All these are contained in the articles of the European Convention on Human Rights as conduct that is penalised and whoever obtain evidence under such an approach cannot use that in proceedings. The issue here is the consideration that the national security services have made before using these methods – truly they might be considered justified since they acted in such a manner in order to preserve the greater good, to secure the well being of the British people and to protect the nation from attacks. However, they have investigated thousands of people that have no connection with terrorism groups – simple people like diesel traders and groceries shop owners. What was the point of that – randomly torturing people in order to obtain lies from them – obviously they would lie and do anything just to be set aside from torturing.
Definitely acting without evidence in an inhuman manner was a wrong step for the labours – a wrong step that is going to cost a lot for the British taxpayers who would have to pay the huge compensations for the victims of those unlawful investigations.

As the UK undertook the anti terrorism approaches that led to hundreds of complaints, finally there is some sparkling light for those who claimed to have been tortured and abused by British officials and army members. The Guantanamo prisoners, that are all British citizens, finally reached an agreement with the UK’s government and would probably get millions of pounds in compensation.
The six suspects of terrorism were taken and arrested as suspected several years back, at a different time in different places. One of the suspects was taken directly from Pakistan where he was visiting relatives and was directly taken to Afghanistan where he spent several days in a hidden secret location near the diesel supply facilities for the British troops. Passing through Morocco, he was then taken to Guantanamo and spent their significant period of time while being investigated.
The experience of the other suspects was almost the same and now they face justice as they claim to have been mistreated and tortured by British officials. Along with that, they have the reasonable claims of opposing a government and a state policy that forced and abused its own citizens as they expected another treatment from their own country.
The government, on the other side, made sure the case do not pass the High Court of justice and arranged some settlements and out-court disputed between the parties. According to official bodies, should the case have been taken to a courtroom, the problem would have become quite dangerous for the British intelligence and special secret services since many of the secrets of these institutions would have been revealed in a public trial or appeal.
And no matter how much the Human Rights issues continue to bother officials, the public seems quite unhappy with the decision of the government to directly pay the alleged victims of torture – according to many, the security and safety of the whole nation comes first and no compromises should be made in those considerations.

One of the dubious pleasures of leaving university for the last time is that you are supposed to enter the big bad wonderful world of work. You know the routine, get your degree, get a good job, meet the girl of your dreams, marry, have children, stop having sex, divorce and die. Well perhaps that is over cynical but you get the general idea. The getting of a good job entry always tended to be at the top of the list and one of the more generally welcome items on it, but now as we all know getting that good job has become much more problematic because in the current economic climate there simply aren’t as many good jobs out there.

Long before the introduction of full course fees, most of us, unless we were born with the proverbial silver spoon in our mouths and or were members of the Bullingdon club, had got used to the fact that we had to, as the Americans like to put it, ’work our way through college’. In reality this meant doing what ever work we could find in the holidays and working in bars or shops in the evenings and at weekends during term time. Essentially the experience although it be fun at times, was very bitty. We had to put together what bits of work and income we could scratch together in our free time and that was ok, we were after all at uni. I don’t think though that any of us even in 2007 when the world went into meltdown expected we would have be doing the same thing once we’d graduated, but increasingly that is exactly what many of us are doing.

I left University last summer in 2011 with a good degree but since then I have been unable to find the right job. Now I’ll be honest about this, the key phrase in that last sentence is ’the right job’, I have had the opportunity of taking jobs that weren’t the ’right job’, but my rational has been that now, when I have no ties or responsibilities, is the time to hold out for the the type of job I really do want and believe I can do. Perhaps that’s wrong thinking, certainly many people have told me so, but my attitude has been, if not now then when. In any case that’s how it’s been over the last year or so and I find myself still in my old student mode, doing various bits and pieces to keep body and soul together.

I’ve done promo work, both in and out of a banana costume, a spot of theatre administration, market research for IPSOS-MORI, worked for Oddbins, been a bike courier, driven for Car Service Surrey and done a lot of other temping. Some of this has actually been quite interesting and I have toyed with the idea of trying to become a writer. My main point though, is that I think this way of life is going to become the norm for a lot of new graduates and we’d all better get used to it. Perhaps as my friend James keeps telling me the smart thing to do would be to start my own business.

If the title above seems ominous to you then beware because the recent study done by Institute of Fiscal studies revealed that approximately three million British children will be living in poverty by 2013. Thanks to the economic crunch and euro-zone crisis the average household incomes are undergoing a fast decline.

Two years of serious downfall in the incomes of middle-income British families have forced about 600,000 families in the category of poor. After the seventies it is the biggest decline in the standard of living of Britain.

Poverty in Great Britain is defined as household income below sixty percent of national median income. According to this definition about seventeen percent of British kids were living in absolute poverty during 2009-2010. Notwithstanding the government’s palliative efforts, poverty will grip another twenty-two percent if the trends continue.

Moreover, in 2013 there would be about two million working class parents and four million working class adults whose children would be classified in the category of absolute poverty. This news has given suitable fodder to the opposition and media to slam the already battling government.

Although the prime minister has been promising time and again that Universal Credit Scheme would be successful in changing this trend. But till now the general population seems no such results. Probably the undiagnosed compensation that the government owes to public has exceeded the government’s expectation.

Since these statistics have been revealed IFS director Paul Johnson has been crying foul. If he is to be believed then government will not reach its poverty reduction goal even in the next ten years. It seems that Tory-led government is unable to fulfill its promises as the difference between its words and actions widens with every passing day.

It is said that the future is almost impossible to predict, but if these figures have any veracity then tough times lie ahead for this nation.

Interestingly, observations of the most popular products on the London tech market seem to differ significantly – some suggest certain trends, other point out particular products and brands. Nonetheless, it is interesting seeing what out fine city consumes the most in terms of technology and what the innovations in the technology industry have brought to the people in the city. From mobile technologies to laptops, Londoners seem to be keen on certain brands and not quite positive as a general on others.

In terms of smartphones, the all time winners are Apple’s iPhone and RIM’s Blackberry phones. Most of the people in the city that use smartphones would prefer one of these devices – this is why the two companies share almost 60% of the market share in smartphone technologies in London. Ranging from apps on how to claim compensation for accidents at work to stunning HD games, iPhones are the most entertaining smart devices currently on the market. Blackberry remains the most used corporate means of communication as many companies use the brand as a service provider for corporate email services and instant messaging. Nokia are the company that fell the most in terms of mobile devices sold in London – despite its brand new and stunning devices which offer excellent experience, the company keeps falling behind the competition. Samsung and HTC are advancing and soon they might be the main competitors for RIM’s products.

The most preferred laptops in London from the general consumer remain the Apple’s products. However, the most consumed products are far more affordable – the general consumer would love to have an Apple product, however, brands such as Acer and HP remain the most used laptops in London mainly because of the widely popular and capable software of Microsoft. Smaller percentage of people buy Apple and Sony Vaio products because these products, despite being the highest quality products on the computer market, are significantly more expensive. Higher interest is observed for Lenovo computers – the Chinese brand offers great diversity of laptops at reasonable prices.

Similar Posts:
Tories Stories : Well we all wanted this glorious, amazingly…
Truth Hurts : And while many people tend to believe that N…
Tips for buying cheap flights : …
A Pipedream? : Not long ago, most people would have chosen the…

In the times of crisis, there is an industry branch that scores well and keeps developing. Gaming industry in Europe is more or less controlled by German game producers and Hamburg is the place where it is all happening. Being one of the most well developed cities in the country, Hamburg shows a great development rates in banking, production, services and other sectors. Most of all, however, it shows an immense progress in the gaming industry where the city is happy to announce it produces more employment opportunities than any other European city.

Currently, the rise in employment in the sector is nearly 17% which makes the number of 3500 people employed in the sector. From specialists to worry about unsecured business loans risks to gaming companies to software specialists to develop the final product, the number of people employed in the sector keeps increasing. Data provided by Tech Europe, a Wall Street Journal Network about the technology world in Europe, indicates that only in 4 years the number of people engaged in the production of games has doubled.

Predictions keep up with the positive development of the branch. According to specialists, the number of people engaged in the production of games will keep increasing in the future. A huge role would be played by the demand for games in the tablet device sector, in the new innovative console gaming and in the mobile gaming for phones. All these exercise constant demand for specialists and Hamburg is the place that would accommodate the best minds suitable for developing such production to address the demand for apps and games for the new software platforms.

After the first installment of billions of Euros in the country, Greek could not effectively manage to fight back the severe banking and financial recession that has embraced the country almost a year back. The efforts of the Greek continued to be fruitless as the trade of the country is reducing, the economic environment is becoming worse than before the first crisis and the deficit and international debt are rising to levels that threaten to disturb the social order and to lead to a more serious outcomes for the Eurozone.

This would be the main topic of discussion of EU leaders as they meet to discuss the Greek problems and to come up with resolutions to the deep recession that have come to the Eastern Eurozone. Countries such as Ireland and Portugal already took advantage of the situation and managed to spend the EU support in satisfaction of economy measures that boosted the economy and left long lasting positive outcomes.

The Greek problem is, however, yet unresolved. In order to meet deadlines and to save the European economic society, the EU leaders must agree on a bailout plan to satisfy at least 100 billion of the demand by Greece and to contribute for the management of the trade conditions. The stocks of Greek corporations have shrunk, the unemployment is rising and the inflation quickens the problems in the state. It is predicted by economists with the Wall Street Journal that the international financial support that would be provided by the EU in satisfaction of the demand by Greece would be at least a six month installment of more than 120 billion Euros – enough to satisfy the economic environment in the country for next several weeks without deficit influence – an economy where even the secondary teaching jobs are decreasing.

What has been a dilemma for the people worldwide has now been reformed. People have always been wondering – against or for the technological advance of media and social networking. However, they now have the answer and recent research by BBC shows that people are more than happy to engage in activities online and they actually prefer to use the web when they cannot watch their favourite media shows, broadcasts or any other product put on the media, including news, sports and so on.

This is why people have engaged into the so called Youview project who was proposed by enthusiasts from the UK and is now to become reality only in the beginning of the next year. This is a hybrid of media and more media – the so called ultimate catch-up television online channel and would even allow viewers to watch the high quality shows they miss the most.

The project would be an amazing cooperation initiative by ITV, BBC, Sky and the other major TV providers operating in the UK. They would jointly maintain a web channel which would be able to store and project almost 40,000 different shows and broadcasts every day. The effect would be an immense media spread to people because they would be able to catch up with the shows that they have missed and to stay informed. Iphone and Ipad applications would allow consumers to follow the channel on every smartphone which supports media projection. Even the people at the exhausting positions in the physiotherapy jobs would be able to catch up while on the tube after downloading the media file or while on the bus and directly streaming their favourite TV broadcasts.

Thus the Youview project would be the ultimate development and the highest level of cooperation the TV providers have ever achieved.

The British economic growth has been said to be improving reaching its highest in 3 months measurements. However, little is felt by the nation and the unemployment and investment rates remain a troubling factor of the current state of the economy.

However, a growing trend is the movement towards socially responsible business conduct which might indicate that the upcoming future of the British economy might be a bit brighter that we can suggest currently. The concept of socially responsible investing vests power into companies in return of them applying policies for the good of the public. This includes improvement of infrastructure when certain projects are being undertaken, the development of alternative resource development, the re-use of energy and the manner of conduct complying firstly with the needs of the society. A good example would be the Anglo-American mining company that promises to undertake a socially responsible conduct and to contribute to the economic growth in the UK. An already quite impressive company is Siemens that remains one of the strongest foreign establishments in the UK with its vast influence over the population and its activities aiming to induce a sign making a clear notice – people need more responsible companies to lead the economic growth.

And while such theoretical discussions are still on a private level, public bodies do little to appreciate them. The parliamentary debates seem focused on how to reduce the level of finance usage rather than increase them. Along with the considerations on the voting system, the UK politicians pay almost no attention to social responsibility issues – something they should have already adopted as a priority if they want to see the UK economy growing.
